high up in the mountains
Jul. 28th, 2001 11:45 amso this is the first time i have even been able to be near livejournal in 2 weeks. internet in central america is not a sure thing. in belize electricity kept going out, and i think some of my emails might have gotten lost. it was cool though. sam and missy and i would drink rum and squash on the patio of this house in succotz,, a little village near the border. we were above the town, so we would see lights go on and off, like a lightshow, and the stars were incredible. and it was WARM. i don't mean to be bitter, being here is doing wonders for my spanish, but it''s high up in the mountains and colfd, and i am so used to living in places with strictly demarcated seasons, with the exception of my one year stint in southern california that i really value those three months of summer and feel like i am being cheated out of it. not much to do here besides school. i've just been hanging out with alex, drinking beers and playing chess, although last night i think i depressed even him with my incessant whining of "there is nothing to do" variety. next weekend i am gonna go to lake atatlan and then maybe take last week of school off and travel...we'll see, going broke is also an issue at the moment. plus the eternal stress of finding a place back in new york. right now i am leaning towards a studio in harlem, it'll be far away, but fuck it, it will be mine.
