The Deck Of Weasels!


Check it out! I tried to post the JPG image on here, but it wouldn't link. But just follow the link above, and you will see, in all its magnificence, the Deck of Weasels, composed of playing cards, featuring Jaques Chirac to Jessica Lange to Harry Belafonte to Peter Arnett.
And, of course, the Jokers: Jimmy Carter & Jesse Jackson

Note the sheer weirdness of the hierarchizing. Why is Kofi Annan a Jack, while Barbara Streisand is a Queen? Why does Jim Moran (well, at least both the cards' creators and I have something in common, namely hating him) outrank Howard Dean? Why are all Hearts Hollywood (and music) celebrties? Is it some "bleeding-heart liberals thing"?

Don't forget to read the trivia-style enticements at the bottom, like

"FIND OUT why Carter and Jackson became the infamous jokers they are – one a disastrous former president who continues to damage his country and the other a failed president wannabe compelled to poke his greedy fingers in every pie."

It also may be the only product, ever, that creates a category insane enough to include both Vladimir Putin and Katie Couric

I really don't know whether I am more horrified at that NY Post article with the doctored photo of the UN that started the whole Weasel insanity was ever allowed into print, at the "deck of death" and what a successful meme transmission device it turned out to be, or at the ideological commodification of both. Though I don't even know why I am separating them; they are all inexorably entwined.

...there's also a counter-deck of cards -- the deck of war criminals. but i don't think that the makers of these cards are spamming everyone with junk mail (yet).
