Dear livejournal genie

All of a sudden my trusty camera is taking crap photos, super-pixelated, noisy, basically cell-phone quality. This started, as far as I can tell, about a week ago?

I got a new memory card for it about a month ago, but until about a week ago it was saving things fine, everything looked good. What could it be? The memory card, after all? The sensor?

studious

My camera is about 3.5 years old. It is a Nikon D80. As anyone reading this lj knows I use it A LOT.

Is it just done for? Or is this an easy obvious problem I am overlooking?

My best guess is the picture settings, i.e. did the camera settings get changed so that it's taking pictures in the lowest resolution to maximize the number that will fit on the memory card? I know that's super obvious, but it's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

What I thought.

My Canon started acting super weird (lines running through it, totally pixilated, bad lighting, etc.) and I went to their website and found a troubleshooter. The problem came up as "must send in for repairs." I did, and it's fine now. Maybe Nikon has a similar web troubleshooting service?

Okay this might be a totally stupid question as I'm sure you've already checked that, but it looks like the iso was changed to 1600 or something ?
Worth checking if you haven't yet.

i agree. it looks like you might have accidentally locked your ISO... though there's also some dithering on her cheek that indicates a picture setting problem. it sounds like you're in nyc, yes? maybe you can just stop by the repair department at b&h and ask them to take a look. i doubt they would charge you if it's just a digital setting thing.
