The only good thing about this- it's a troll, I'm 99% positive. The story doesn't add up, details have changed 3 times through out the comment thread, and the OP has only posted one journal entry in one community and the journal was made the day that the post was made.
However, it was a great post to bring to light the dilemma that many US Americans face when it comes to healthcare.
what makes you think it's a troll? What is inconsistent about the details, I mean? I can totally see someone signing up for lj to ask a question. Poor_skills is a super helpful community, and in the past I have signed up for forums/bulletin boards I found useful while googling about some thing or another.
I am in no position to judge whether it's possible for someone to get so thoroughly screwed by the healthcare system, but it certainly seems possible, with a perfect storm of a bad hospital administrator and a bad judge on appeal (or if either of them hold a grudge against poor folks or women).
There are a few people late on that thread who are feeling righteous about their skepticism; of course (why am i not surprised?) their *own* livejournal history is full of ad hominem evidence against them (calling Obama 'Hussein', as if that was his first name).
I'm irritated that this reaction ("our system never lets anyone fail, you must be a fraud") is happening, because it seems an awful lot like blaming a rape victim for walking alone at night.
