I came home from work tonight to find Fionn sitting on the chair in the living room, strumming his (baby) guitar and singing Pink Floyd. He is such a proto-teenager! Also when I started singing along he stopped and said very forcefully "Don't, mama. Don't sing along."

i don't know why it is but my observation has been that it's pretty nearly universal -- kids don't want their parents to sing along.

here's a song that many kids find hypnotic (they'll play it over and over again). if you like it (and i know some people who are repelled by it), then you might be able to get him to sing it with you:
