Dagestan – APA. Ayats of the Koran appear from time to time on the body of a newborn baby in Dagestan, APA reports. When the ayats appear, the temperature of the baby reached 40 degrees. Ali was born in Krasno-Oktyabrsk village of Kizlyar region. The baby’s mother Madina Yagubova said a bruise first appeared on his jaw.
“Then we saw the word “Allah” in Arabic in the place of the bruise. The Koran ayats usually appear on the baby’s body on Mondays and Fridays, his temperature reaches 40 degrees and he cries. The writings disappear within three days and new ayats appear in their place,” she said.
The parents say first they decided not to tell anyone about it, but when they saw the words “show my signs to the people”, they decided to reveal the fact.
Representative of Dagestan Muslims Department did not comment on the fact, only said they were astonished.

While it's fun to believe that this kind of thing is possible, even for me who believes in some supernatural things, I guess I have to be the party pooper here. All I see is child abuse by some maniacally religious parents.

that's what my boyfriend immediately said, too.

I was just going to leave a comment in your journal--your artwork is so beautiful! It is evocative of Aubrey Beardsley in parts, but at the same time it's very unique fantasy art. I think you would be an amazing tattoo artist.

Thanks! Yeah, I am a huge fan of Aubrey Beardsley. I also love the work of Jan Brett. Have you seen her work? She does a lot of children's books. I didn't find her until a few years ago, though.

That's what I see, too. The same kind of crazy that causes all of those Virgin Mary sightings in the west plus child abuse.

I am reminded of an article I once saw in a newspaper in Mutare which reported, quite matter-of-factly, that a local family had encountered a tokoloshe and managed to trap it in their spare room. Alas, there was no followup.

(That same issue had the headline: "'Ladies of the Night' Now Take Payment In Petrol." This was during Zimbabwe's gasoline crisis.)

I would love what I guess everyone would love, which is to say, to have been there and seen what happened.

How often do people who abuse their kids turn around and find special meaning in the bruises that they bring to everyone's attention? I mean, seriously, since people do everything, out of what number of people do you get this?

I also wonder what the dynamic is between the parents? Is this one parent's way of backing up the other parent, in some weird subconscious fashion (other parent couldn't possibly be injuring our child, it must be God)?

I truly doubt the parents think they're lying. So how does this situation arise out of their sincerity?

What the heck's it like to be that kid? And to be that kid later?

"I used to get all these bruises, but they were messages from God to the people."
