I had a very children-intensive trip. In addition to my own sweet little boy, who was the main reason for my visit to the US, I socialized with numerous wee ones in Boston, NYC, Berlin, and Norway (in Berlin I somehow kept ending up babysitting various children--five in total during my six days there!)

Sadly, a few remained unphotographed, but here are many of the junior mints:

By the way, these kids at the playground near Ms. Palindrome's house totally adopted Fionn--a seven-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy--leading him around by the hand, swinging him, making sure the slide he wanted to go down wasn't too hot.





They also told me that Fionn needs a sister; when I inquired what said hypotherical sister's name ought to be, the boy was in favor of "Becky" and the girl firmly endorsed "Princess." They compromised on "Princess Becky."

Finally, if you are wondering what the deal is with the Cookie Monster shoes, Fionn and Zamara are wearing them because while in Boston I had a gig doing child portraits for this one family in Somerville (repeat clients from last summer), and one of the parents is getting involved with the shoe company that makes these sorts of things, and they asked me, in addition to the standard portrait stuff to take some photos of their kids playing in the shoes, and then to take a couple of photos of Fionn wearing them, too. Since I think the shoes are wicked cute I was happy to oblige. Here are the cookie monster shoes up close from the photoshoot:

The kids I photographed are very cute as well.

Heh, no, of course he still lives with me! He and theophile are spending two months in the US this summer and that's too long of a stretch for me to go without seeing Fionn. Before these summer plans materialized I didn't have plans to go the US this summer, because it's 'spensive, but it actually worked out okay since my photo gig covered most of my ticket there, and I got my department to pay for my ticket back, since I was going to give a paper at a conference.

yes, of course, the robot eye of my camera screens out all the aesthetically unpleasing children so that I don't accidentally photograph them and reveal that my photographic skills are ALL A SHAM!!!

I think the lack of Fionn was also a contributing factor. Their individual cuteness increases exponentially in combination!
