I love the fact that the suicide bomber guy is an all-American homegrown anti-gay anti-vampire sexually repressed Evangelical fundamentalist. Thank you, True Blood! That is all.
oooo, great you're all caught up. my second favorite line of the night was steve newlin's "what do they see in you?" to sookie. gawd, how can that be the star of the show? she is SO lame. i am gonna read the books because i hear she is good in them. it still won't redeem show Sookie for me though.
favorite part was when Eric turned into the geeky church guy. gaw, despite myself i find Alexander Skarsgaard to be shamefully hot, but i am still not and will never be crazed Eric-groupie.
despite all that, i found the episode rather lacklustre :(
I kind of dig Sookie! She has the spunky-ness and the psychological dark places of Buffy without the constant moral superiority which characterized Buffy at least after season 3. I don't find Eric especially hot (he looks strung out to me), but he and Sookie definitely have chemistry.
I really like Sookie in the tv show. I've only read the first book so far, but the tv show is pretty much superior in every way, including Sookie's character.
also why did you cut out the anti-gay part? Luke clearly named off his hierarchy of sexual deviance and gay was on there. i think the lowest depth was "gay vampire"....oh Eddie, you must still be avenged!
oh man, I totally forgot about Luke's hierarchy! I was referencing their anti-vampire schtick as a clear metaphor for the anti-gay stuff, forgetting that they have already explicitly combined both on the show.
I think Luke is a secretly gay wanna-be fangbanger.
Jason? No, I don't think Jason is about to die! Or do you mean Luke? I am guessing Luke has died without consummating his gayness or his fangbangness...Sure, Luke's and Jason's scenes were full of gay, but so are all scenes involving Jason and other men.
It's been bugging me all day that I couldn't open the LJ cut because I hadn't seen episode 8 yet. But I just watched it, and it was AWESOME! I hate having to watch the episodes in lagged time, because the suspense is killing me!
