Fionn and I had our first playdate here with a very cool family. A woman I met through Couchsurfing, her 8-year old daughter, and her twins, who are absolute elvish imps...or possibly impish elves.













Also Fionn ran out into the garden yesterday, and there was a gaggle of kids next door (birthday party, apparently), and the gardens are adjacent to each other, but there is a thick wall of trees rising above a little fence...so the kids on the other side, naturally intrigued by Fionn's mighty yelps, decided to investigate...I heard them giggling, and then this boy, looking like a storybook illustration, peered curiously into our yard. It cracked me up, so I took a photo.

I thought about it for a second, but I can sort of imagine a parent being creeped out by that...I dunno. I mean, I know I wouldn't be, and I think in general there is less paranoia here, but who knows.

I bet there wouldn't be a problem. Especially if you explain that you were in the yard taking photos of Fionn and their elfling was peeking at you and you couldn't resist snapping a shot. Fionn, as embasador to the world of kid cuteness should go with youMight be a good way to meet the neighbors.

well, the problem is, it's not the neighbours' kid--it's just some kid who was at the birthday party for the neighbours' kid--and I don't know how well they know the parents, etc.--but I will keep an eye out for him, and should he appear again, I will give it to them...or possibly I will make posters of this, hang them around the street with a caption HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY? NOW YOU HAVE!

creepy in the most DELIGHTFUL way. maybe instead of posting them, I will have Fionn handing them out--that will mitigate the creepiness and amplify the delight.
