In my dream this morning I came home from the library with a book entitled "Jason and the Red Argonauts" (with a hyper-stylized cover, illustrated with wood-etchings), and had an argument with [livejournal.com profile] theophile about it, where I was saying it was clearly radical, because it was all about The Golden Fleece quest as a communist endeavor, and he was saying that it was racist, as the term "red" was obviously an antiquated derogatory term for Native Americans.

This dream, possibly more than any other dream I have ever had, is a testament to the the Jungian theory where every character in your dream is an aspect of yourself.

Yes, I can see that.

My dream last night was where my 20 year old paramour asked whether I told my husband about him. I said, yes, and he said, what was his reaction? I said, not really anything...but after we spoke he went into the kitchen and started sharpening his knives. That was me trying to be humorous in the dream and not reflective of dream reality, about the knives.

That book sounds like it needs to exist in real life. At least the cover.

ha! That metaphorical framing within symbolic framing is very sophisticated of your unconscious. Whereas my unconscious is linear and anvil-like.

Oh no, I'd say your unconscious is working overtime--I've always thought that when I've created a work of art that doesn't exist in my dreams. My favorite of that, for the record, was my dream in college that I was witnessing the filming of a period piece/porn movie called "Hard Times"--it was a very ochre colored costume drama and I think Dickens would have been amused.

Ah, a porn/literary pun is EXACTLY the sort of thing that Morpheus would fervent in my cauldron. Kindred spirit!

Clearly, "red" in this case is a reference to "red" en espanol, meaning "network" in English. Being made up of various "heroes" and nobility throughout ancient Greece, the network is sort of an "old boys club" in formation; similar to an Ivy League fraternity or something like Skull and Bones.

Their "boys will be boys" antics of the upper crust include fucking their way through a lesbian separatist colony, killing their hosts (and assassinating a sovereign) in a late night party, foolishly sailing through dangerous conditions, being seduced by nymphs, stealing underwear from a different militant lesbian separatist colony, sport hunting endangered bird species, domesticating fire-breathing cows, causing dissension in a rival monarch's army, seducing that monarch's daughter, stealing royal treasure, convincing the monarch's daughter to kill her brother and chop him into pieces, and then flee, music competitions, and using guile to have another monarch assassinated and again chopped into bits.

Medea sure was crazy.

I think it's probably a bit of anti-feminist propaganda.
