my baby is one year old today

he was such a little gnome at first


and a hungry little caterpillar


here he is on Father's day last June

in the rapidly pitter-pattering months since then,


he became upright


he traveled to New Mexico


he pouted


he was photographed incessantly by me


and he is still a little gnome, but so much closer to being human now.

Wow, let me be the latest to wish Fionn a happy 1st birthday! From your photos, he has really made some kind of astronomical leap in little-kid-ness AND in unbelievable gorgeousness these past several weeks. And congratulations to YOU -- I've always thought that you should get some kind of special, decadent, terrific prize at the end of your first year of parenthood. Your accomplishments this year have really piled up, but raising such a beautiful baby is TREMENDOUS!
