Yesterday I dragged Melissa over the border to Gary with me...I wanted to find the abandoned church and the abandoned train station in downtown...We didn't have time to go to the train station because I had to get back to Chicago to go see "Much Ado About Nothing" with my parents at the Navy Pier Shakespeare Theater, but the church. proved to be a most agreebale place to spend an afternoon poking and cocking my head and playing with the light through the lens... (also I think I just accidentally deleted the comments of everyone who has already replied to this entry...sorry! I don't know how to undo it...)

Whoa, what happened to your comments? All gone!

The dunes I was referring to are in the Indiana Dunes State Park , which I assume you've visited, right? They're not technically in Gary, but I think they're only about ten miles away.

Post-industrial Rust Belt decrepitude is so poignant.

oh, right...well, I figure there are other places I can go to for beaches and such...Indiana, especially that part of it, is where I go for postapocalyptic decay.

Those are pretty awesome. How much longer are you in town?

heading out tonight, sorry! :(

I didn't see your text message until yesterday when I listened to your phone message and yesterday was jam-packed. (When I am at my parents' house I leave the cell phone off a lot and don't always remember to check the text messages/emails I get on it).

I will be back in May/June, tho.

My favorite kinds of cathedrals are the abandoned ones.

Love this.

I hope you're enjoying your time in Chicago. I'm buzzing in tomorrow for like 2 days, and then heading back out here to the sticks. Whirlwind craziness.

Wow, these pictures are amazing. How did you find this place? What kind of camera do you use?

Also, can you let me know what there is to do in Chicago? I'll probably be moving there soon (for reasons slightly outside my control), and I've never found that much to like about Chicago. I need the lowdown on Chicago's redeeming virtues.
