she is one of those rare people that manage to be totally cute and totally femme fatale at the same time. I don't know how she does it.

Yah !!!!
It's like she should always live in black and white and at the same time she is completely 21st century !

[livejournal.com profile] anthrochica's photoessays always turn into such compliment-fests! I'm wicked chuffed.

but you are so pretty!

what's "chuffed"?

so guess what, as I was about to turn onto Lake Shore Drive off Hyde Park I was in the left turn pocket and the light was red and I saw that the street sign said "Lake Shore Drive" right there. So I quickly whipped out the camera and got a shot while the light was red. I actually saw it change back to green thorugh the viewfinder.

well snapped!

you've got that witch baby camera thing of pulling beauty out through the lens.

Chuffed is, like, pleased, flattered, gratified.

oh, I forgot all about the witch baby camera. I read those books a really long time ago. Appropriately enough, when I was living in Los Angeles. I think I have a very counterinuitive relationship with taking pictures. Instead of doing it to document reality, doing it makes things like dreamlike in my memory, so the more I take pictures, the more my memory bank is converted into dreamlike contours and colors.

Unrelatedly, this is the painting I was trying to describe to you when we were doing that first scene
chatterton

and this is the book about Chatterton
that has that painting for a cover.

indeed! just the look I was going for. redheaded, languid, sunlit, dead.

So this is weird...
it is the second time today that this painting has appeared on my intraweb. In two different contexts... and I did not know it !

I really like the sense of abandonment in that !

what was the other context?

Somebody posted a picture of them on blogger and the painting was in the back of them hanging on the wall...

It was through clicking and clicking so I can't remember where....

I am fairly certain that I approve! are these pictures stills from the video or separate digicam shots?

Date: 2006-02-23 03:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lapsedmodernist.livejournal.com
These are from the digital camera. So I don't know if they are stills, strictly speaking. A couple of them are in media res, and a couple are sort of between takes, but they capture the atmosphere and the costumes.

All in all there were six separate "scenes":
-[livejournal.com profile] amadea lounging around in a sunlit bed
-[livejournal.com profile] amadea gothed out playing keyboard on a breakfast counter -[livejournal.com profile] amadea in a dilapidated kind of alley
-[livejournal.com profile] amadea on the lakeshore
-[livejournal.com profile] amadea on the phone, singing into the telephone
-[livejournal.com profile] amadea driving around in a car.

There are about 2 hours of footage in total, I looked over it, some of it is only partially usable (like the first take of the kitchen counter one, because it ended up being too dark), but I think there will be enough for you to play with.

I just started wondering if I couldn't import some stills, but I just realized I don't have any of my camera cords with me, so it will have to wait until I am back home.

I wouldn't discount dark scenes as unusable-- I was planning on using AfterEffects for this, which has a much more robust set of image controls than Premiere, and any shots which are too dark to use in their full form I can still use for subtle overlays and transitions. I look forward to seeing the footage!
