I cannot believe how good "Veronica Mars." Seriously, each episode this fall makes me think "this is the best one of the seaon" and the next one just outdoes it. This is how "Buffy" was at its peak. It keeps surprising me, it's the smartest and most original show I've seen in years, and tonight's episode actually made me tear up. Also:
+++ Joss Whedon cameo!!!

Upon your recommendation, I adored the first season. Now that I'm back in the high-speed city, I have the first two episodes downloaded. Can't wait! Also, went to see Shopgirl which I thought was decent, if somewhat forgettable...Clare Danes was really the highlight.

Oh, the second season is SO GOOD so far. Last night's episode was completely outstanding. And I thought in "Shopgirl" the atmosphere and the color palette were the highlight. And yeah, I enjoyed Claire Danes playing a grown-up (sort of) Angela Chase. I liked how it did Los Angeles. It was sort of, in small some way, evocative of what "The Royal Tenenbaums" did with New York.

me and my gay boyfriend have plans to watch it all on sunday.

yes on LA. i mean, i've never been there, but leaving the theatre, a stranger smiled at me misty-eyed and said "i miss LA"...so something must have worked there.

I don't get it. I don't like Veronica Mars and I never liked Buffy. But it seems that the people who liked Buffy love Mars. I think the acting is absurdly bad. The main chick is pretty decent (Bell) and the father but there is so much bad acting I have trouble watching it. Perhaps I also have trouble with the plots of both series.

Hmph.

It's funny because that's how i used to feel about Buffy . But this weekend, I buckled down and decided to give another chance and rented season one ( which i hadn't seen). I found that I really liked it and i wasn't as annoyed by the acting. So maybe it's just that you can't catch it in the middle !
