While trying to fill up a cup from the faucet, I just accidentally filled up my entire bathrobe sleeve with water isntead, and didn't notice until it started dripping.

Also, apparently New York let America down!

FUCK YOU, BLOOMBERG.

You know what, though? I still prefer that sentiment to "we ALL perished in the WTC metaphorically, on 9/11 we were ALL New Yorkers in TexasIndianaOhio."

This whole Olympics thing is totally like "Josie and the Pussycats." Stay pink and sparkly and gritty, New York! Well, at least pinko and gritty.

Hehehe

The death of the stadium is probably a double blessing - not only are we spared a dead zone in the middle of the city, i'm assuming there was an enormous payoff to the "Bloomberg for president" fund contingent on that stadium...

Re: the 9/11 thing;

I'm always a little bitter that the red states are always criticizing us for our apparent lack of seriousness in the war on terror (because we hate Bush), whereas we're the only ones in any serious danger of getting attacked by terrorists. What were the two targets on 9/11? New York and DC, 85% Democratic. Who else has valid concerns? Chicago. LA. Boston, maybe. All havens of urban liberals. They use our valid danger to conjure up totally ridiculous scenarios - and then steal the homeland security money so that people in Wyoming are earmarked for more money than people in New York City. Woo.

Wasn't Las Vegas being considered a potential terror target for being a den of sin or something?

Vegas would be a *great* target - not only is it a sort of modern-day Sodom, but it's chock-full of middle-Americans. I'd definitely support tax dollars going to protect Vegas. But Wyoming? I've been there, and it's brown and dusty. There would be literally nothing you could blow up in Wyoming, short of the entire state, that would impress me. The capital "city" has about 10,000 people.

...and also is the home state of VP Cheney. Coincidence?

Of course it is, just like the no-bid government contracts with Halliburton, the Enron bailout, and the Bush family ties to the Saudi royal family.

Dude, seriously!! A couple months after 9-11 I was in the car with my mom in Michigan. We saw a car with a bumber sticker that said something obnoxious like "We're all New Yorkers" and I started to gag. But my mom totally reprimanded me for not...like...being nice or accepting empathy or something. Like, hell-O, NOT IN OUR NAME, people!!!!!!

Wait, what's a bumber sticker?

I don't know, but I like it!

I often feel road rage (as opposed to road sanctioning in which I engage regularly by honking loudly at people who fail to signal that they are switching lanes) when I am behind a car with a bumper sticker that makes me want to rear-end them. "Former Fetus on Board" is a frequent catalyst.

Hey, remember when it was Code Orange and they ordered 24 hour patrols over Disneyland, but not over NYC?

Better yet was when the Chicago Loop wasn't made a no-fly zone so Daley had Meigs Field's runway torn up in the middle of the night. I love belligerent, big-city mayors.

Back to the Olympics: they have them in the US too damn often anyway. The last one was less than a decade ago. Give someone else a change.

gah!

i have to say, one of the nice things about not living in nyc anymore is that i don't have to spend time every day thinking about and hating bloomberg. stadium... wtc... WTF... he needs to just... ;lasfajlskdjf

i was at a higschool graduation in san francisco 2 weeks ago. the opening speaker went on and ON about 9/11 and our "post 9/11 world." i almost started screaming at him that he'd better shut the fuck up as he was in SF not NYC on that day and so whatever his conception of the event, and how it "pulled people together" needed to be shoved up his ass along with the glass from all the vodka bottles i drained following "the events of 9/11"

thankfully i had my handy sublingual klonopin wafers on hand, and i didn't have to cause a ruckus at a little highschool graduation.

(generally san francisco doesn't piss me off... well, it does b/c it's uber yuppy, but i was a bit shocked to hear 9/11 blah blah at this graduation. don't want you to think i'm bashing SF.)
