Does anyone know where I can find a quicktime video that was doing the rounds a few months ago, documenting soldiers from the 25th Infantry division killing parents in front of their children at a checkpoint in Tal Afar? These are the stills from the video, but I need the video itself. Anyone? [livejournal.com profile] mjmj? [livejournal.com profile] vulgarlad? Thanks!

Dear lord. I missed that when it came out... and I just have no words. Every time i don't think I can be any more shocked about something that people connected with our military have done, I am always more shocked.

Where did you find out about this?

I remember it being glossed over by MSNBC and reported in the independent media and foreign press, and I know the video was circulated, although I didn't see it. I am looking for it now for a project I am working on.

it could be that someone saw this (1776 Kbytes worth), and reported that it was a video:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6871483/site/newsweek

this has the pictures displayed as a sequence, along with audio of the photographer Chris Hondros, describing what happened.

unfortunately (or, fortunately, for my psyche), i never saw the video. truthout had the report on it that i read, but, unlike commondreams, they don't have archives (at least, not that i know of).

first, truthout DOES have a searchable archive. second, after some searching, i wasn't able to find any mention of video, only of Chris Hondros photos (for example, getty images is selling the images of the shooting at tal afar). even Chris Hondros's web site doesn't appear to mention a video:

thanks anyway! It seems to have disappeared from google and I am having no luck on Prelinger and I would rather not dip onto Ogrish-type websites if I can help it.

Oh my god... You might want to put a warning in there... I had no idea what I was about to see... I never heard about it.
I . Can't. Believe. It.
This is raising so much emotion in me. I played one of these kids in a play once. It was hard. but this is the truth. awful.

killing parents in front of their children at a checkpoint

Well, that description is kind of the warning, isn't it?

What do you mean, you played one of those children in a play? An Iraqi child from this war or just a war orphan?

Sorry. That picture should not be that big. I tried to go back but it won't let me delete my comment. I don't know why the picture is huge like this . It should be 300 by 180 pixels...
Sorry. Go ahead and delete it !

I did delete it, sorry! But it was making the page load very slowly and messing up the format really badly. You should repost, just a smaller one. That must have been a rough role to play.

Yeah something was definitely wrong with the file as i never intended to post something so large ! It was tough. And also extremely rewarding and eye opening.
