Um, if the Pope went to hell, would that be ironic?

Homosexual marriages are part of "a new ideology of evil" that is insidiously threatening society, Pope John Paul says in a new book published Tuesday.

In "Memory and Identity," the Pope also calls abortion a "legal extermination" comparable to attempts to wipe out Jews and other groups in the 20th century.

If BushCo says they are not going to bomb Iran, they are obviously going to bomb Iran.

You see, I figured it out. While using Alice in Wonderland partisan teaparty logic is a useful heuristic when attempting to triangulate (1)past press coverage, (2)actual chronology of events and (3)present press coverage, a different DeLorean is needed to divine What Will Happen Next. There is a play by David Ives called All in the Timing in six parts. Part three is called The Philadelphia and it revolves around characters interacting in some kind of metaurban vaccum, and each of them is existentially inhabiting a different metropolis; they do not have control over their location, but the location determines their interactions with their environment and each other. The person in "a Los Angeles" is blaze about everything even though his wife has just left him, and he was fired. The person in a Cleveland reports feeling worse than dead*, and the person in a Philadelphia gets the opposite of what he asks for. The person in the Los Angeles explains the deal to the person in the Philadelphia so he finally learns to ask for the opposite of what he wants. He finally elicits a greeting from the waiter who has been ignoring him by telling him to fuck off, gets him to take his order by telling him to go away, and somehow calculates that an opposite of a cheeseburger is a hot dog or something like that, and eventually he gets everything he wants by learning the rules. There is a perpetual surreal/insane veneer, because sometimes the opposites are children's book-binary, and sometimes they are downright randomized Saussurian--like, why is a cheeseburger the opposite of a hot dog, etc? But while the trip-you-up logic of the Mad Hatter or The Philadelphia can never be tamed into a deductive pet, eventually with some dog sense you you will learn to induce within its fog. Like a children's book villain whose name would be spelled Hsub, [Bush will attack Iran if he says he won't]. In the more murky set of correlations that still add up to a neocon binary pair, [a gay prostitute mole in the White House means the President was a target of possible assasination]. A neocon binary pair is not a stable semiotic construction, it one easily destabilized by free radicals and itching to converge. Said convergence occurs in sets such as ["Islamic Fundamentalists" : "Christian Fundamentalists"]

If earthquakes in Iran mean bad PR for the US hawks/stay of execution by the daisycutters, are they an ironic blessing?

I have a new kind of synesthesia, everyone! It's when you type a sentence and taste vomit all at the same time.

Welcome to The Unreal City. All hope abandon, ye who enter here.

On the other hand, if Bush says they're not going to bomb Iran, that could also mean

(a) Israel is going to bomb Iran,
(b) the US is going to bomb Syria, or
(c) Dick Cheney is going to light his cigars with my Railroad Retirement money.

Seriously, I think capriciousness as such is an essential feature of what's going on. Keep 'em guessing--ALL of 'em.

good point! It's kind of like how the hot dog is an opposite of a cheeseburger! But it also could be disco fries, y'know?

well, I kind of figured that, since when I let more than a week go by without a "political" post I get a "yo, where's the regularly scheduled programming?" email from some person.

And seriously, thank you! This medium does a lot to keep me sane.

So, basically, the earth deities performed a human sacrifice to curtail the wrath of the human beings? Hmmm... talk about ass backward.

I think I understood everything you said in this entry. I'm getting it. Immersion in [livejournal.com profile] anthrochica speak is finally paying off. {obviously I have been outside the academic sphere too long...}

Kinshasa politics work through Philadelphia speak. But at least the rest of the situation here is pretty straightforward and unconfusing -- everything is just bad.

a lot of bureocratic institutions/politics work through Philadelphia speak. When you try to Understand them, that leads to Tautology, but if you are content to just set a chain of events in motion, there are rules that can be learned and followed.

I keep encountering people who don't know what Tautology is. And yet, they are the worst offenders. Tautology is a natural consequence of a government-influenced media that teaches its population newspeak.

"He picks up Gideon's Bible
open at page one
oh God, he stole the handle and
the train won't stop going
no way to slow down."

I wracked my brain, and all i could come up with was..."Yup, here we go again." Actually, we never stopped.

I will swap you Jethro Tull for Rudyard Kipling

And the end of the fight is a tombstone white
With the name of the late deceased--
And the epitaph drear: "A fool lies here
Who tried to hustle the East."

Well, I used to use standard logic, but then the neocon coup happened and I've had to adapt.

oy.

what do you even think "neocon" means?

(try and come up with a definition that doesn't encompass a large majority of the GOP!)

Ahahahahahahahahah! Ha! That was the most amusing post I've come across in ages. Hey, I'm a former marine( I was an arabic linguist/radio tech) and so... Non-Euclidean logic? It sounded more like military logic IE Military Intelligence(we actually had someone in intell watching CNN 24/7 because they got better intell than we did.)
