Yesterday while doing laundry I accidentally washed and dried an unopened contact lens (as in, sealed in its original container). This is not as bad as when I gave a bath to my fan two summers ago or when I gave a bath to the family vacuum cleaner when I was little (ibid. and also do you see a pattern?) but it still sucks because I don't have, like, an unlimited supply of contact lenses and they don't grow on trees, especially in the Amazonian rainforest.

So, um, should it be okay to use? Or should I just throw it out?

Seriously. I do. They said it should be fine as long as the blister package hasn't broken.

And this is why I love livejournal.

Thank you.

i figure put it in and see if it's still effective. I don't know in what temperature water you 'washed' it, but the only thing that could be problematic is if it had been somehow warped due to high temperature.

It was "whites" so hot. And then I dried it for 35 minutes on extra-hot. I guess I will not throw it out but, like, mark the box to remember that when I use it I should watch out for an onset of blindness.

is there still liquid in the package?

yes...it's still sealed, I just thought being heated for a prolonged time could, like, alter its chemical structure, but then again I have a very medieval and intuitive conception of chemistry. It more like alchemistry.

I noticed you added me--I just checked out your journal, it is interesting and lovely. I would like to add you back, but gotta ask, though, why do you have [livejournal.com profile] dictator88 on your friendslist. Obviously you don't have to answer, but I am curious.

i will ask tomorrow {i will be standing neXt to an optometrist for a bit of the day} about your contact lenses.
re:dictator88.
i first added him ages ago {before i knew what the 88 stood for} because he was a sensationalist &a bastard;; so i thought, well, its good to know your enemies. but also, there was a soft side i was interested in seeing if i could poke at.
he was an {lj} friend of a friend as well.
i have met him in real life.
he is an odd bird, but a sweet man.
i dont agree with everything he has to say, but i like that. i dont want to be surrounded by people who are always agreeable. he is a good heart; he is really much more bark & no bite.

i think {sometimes} people shy away from me when they see that he is on my friends list.
i understand that,, but a person friends me, not him.
o, that sounds so dramatic doesnt it?
i hope you know what i mean though..

i enjoy reading your journal.
i admit, i was obsessed w. the idea of studying cultural anthropology &religious studies when i was younger.. of course, i decided to move around too much to be in school instead..
etcetera..
best;
eac

I don't mean to sound like I am interrogating you, because I am not, but how does that assessment fit with his self-professed allegiance to Nazi ideology and explicit antisemitic discourse? I am deeply revolted by anything of that nature; the fact that I am Jewish makes his discourse particularly personally offensive to me.

On a totally different subject: I saw a beautiful photograph (Dec. 9th) that looked...treated? Solarized/desaturated? I wanted to ask what camera you used and how you achieved that effect.
