Jan. 7th, 2006 02:46 amYesterday I was driving on 95 in the evening and a meteorological-industrial event was taking place in front of me. Ahead and to the left a hill curved, and cars were coming down, towards me, on the opposite side of the road. It was dark, though, and they were far away, and all I could see were their headlights descending. It looks like an ongoing star shower. But more than that! Backgrounded, a bit further into the landscape, there were large chimneys belonging to some kind of plant, the kind of chimneys that glow with red lights that go on and off in the night. Because it was foggy, the chimneys were not visible, only the red lights that flickered in the sky like a nocturnal-celestial Christmas light cluster. It like a mirage by way of a negative hallucination. No cars, no chimneys, only light particles.
Also, I am in love with a lake. It is clear and wide and iced over, and it seems like you can skate across it forever, and there is a church where the ice meets the ground and at sunset the surroundings look like the two-toned collage I did in fourth grade. Trees, half-black in the blue air, half-blue in the black sky.
And, speaking of winter:
