So I have succesfully resolved my technology issues, and to celebrate I am putting up a first batch of photos.

Quito is very colorful, and sometimes that leads to insane buildings like this one:

Wall mural

Our Lady of the Mercado

Boy at the market

Woman asleep at the market

Potions

more potions

flowers (yes they are really like that, it's not the camera blur)

Baby tree protected by the cage thing

Don Quixote and Sanch Panza in the living room of my boarding house

A woman with her baby (the baby is that bundle in front of her and it kept trying to run away)

The Virgin statue I got as a present from the woman who sold me the potions

moi

You look really hott in the penultimate pic. I think it's the wild hair.

I agree. The penultimate one is hott indeed.

Quito's pretty nice too.

Thank you. The hair (just like in Glamour: How To Achieve That Look)--wash only with cold water that does not really rinse out the conditioner as well as it should, let it down after having it pinned up for days and stand in a gentle drizzle.

Go for it... that's definitely the look to have in case that Jungle raised anthrohunk materializes. Urbane yet savage.

you look like you've lost weight since your trip to n.c. are you eating less, or is it just more of that magical mountain air and deep sleep?

and is that a look of contentment -- or are you hiding that seething cauldron of anger better than mt. st. helen?

cauldron, mjm, cauldron.

and yes, I think I have lost weight. My "skinny" jeans fit loosely now. The anthro grad student urban myth about doing fieldwork at high altitudes, subsisting on candybars and dropping pounds must be true. Because shit, I'm certainly eating enough sugar. And yet.

I just got your email, sorry! I hope the concert was good. Which day are you going climbing? Is it just for a day? Do I need any special gear? Will I die from lack of oxygen?

...because secondly I miss you too...and you never responded to my email...and I don't know whether to be excited for you, concerned about you or both...so all I know, is that you should write to me because firstly I know you want to spill whatever there is to spill and...

i am not forgetting anything. i am in a slump.
or, as I said to somebody yesterday, I am just hibernating/ hiding in my room with my Cassandra complex while falling asleep to the sounds of the four horsemen of the apocalypse... that’s as accurate of a description as I ever got... : )

Besides, you told me not to talk to you about something... and well, that’s sort of a big part of what’s on my mind, and so, I don’t know if you’d rather not know... you know how it goes. I am away again, this weekend, but as soon as I find a moment—I will write to you.

I loved the pictures, btw! very flavorful.

Besides, you told me not to talk to you about something...

I have never, ever said that! If I am thinking of the right thing, I said that I hoped when I returned to the city, we wouldn't have the same conversation...but I understand that it's a process...you can always tell me anything, you know that.

I am sorry you are in a slump! You are in a slump, I am in a limbo, what a pair we make. Perhaps a present will cheer you up, all you need to do is give me an address to send it to...

That Sacamales bottle. I love it. I desire it. Actually, if you could pick me up anything that they promise will draw employers like flies to honey... You did read that overrated Ruth Behan book at some point, no?

From: [identity profile] lapsedmodernist.livejournal.com
do you mean Ruth Behar? And which one?

Sure, I will pick you a potion for gainful employment. Good news: I´ve got so many of them now I am equipped for any life situation (with the notable exception of the AAA fiasco).

That's because you were too far away to spill any on the Executive Board.
