Стояли звери около двери.
В них стреляли, они умирали...

*The animals stood by the door
They were being shot at, they were dying...

I doubt that anyone who can't read this in the original would get the reference, though.

I don't get the reference, but my Russian alphabet is now good enough that I can read it! Sans comprehension, of course.

I find your Jabberwalky approach to my mother tongue strangely charming. I wonder if one day you will have a quantitative leap, and start *understanding* it, like Skynet gaining self-awareness which leads to the Rise of the Machines.

Perhaps on the day that a hiccup in the universal brain causes language to transcend its function as arbitrary signifier...

your CD is amazing!
It's this unbelievable combination of absolutely "Russian" and absolutely other things...I have much more to say and will elaborate in detail.

I actually have read this piece of yours before, on a random search, of course I got drawn in by the LC quote. Accordion fever...For some reason, your story reminded me of a man who lived on the fifth floor of our 16-story building in Moscow, nicknamed "vechniy ogon'" because no one had EVER seen him without a cigarette. He lit his next one before he finished his current one...I was a little afraid of him, and mostly remember him in the context of taking an elevator...I don't know what brought that association upon.

Glad you are liking the books! How far into them are you?
What is your email, too? I will send you an mp3...From Brighton Beach With Love, heh, as I was telling you...
I need to figure out what is going on Sunday, I have to do a bunch of stuff, I am just not sure when it all starts/ends...Let's talk tomorrow or Saturday!
