I want to start writing entires in Russian, real Russian, not my occasional phonetic approximations. As we all know, I am deeply inept when it comes to computers. I need to know
a. Where and how I can download a Russian font (I am running Mac OS9)
b. How to subsequently switch back and forth between fonts on my keyboard (pardon my splitting of the infinitive).
c. How to switch back and forth between fonts on lj without changing the settings every time.

I know a woman I think you would love to know. I wish she did not live in South Carolina and you in New York.

I am sorry. You asked me that question a few days ago, and I just never got around to responding to your great comment. But, as a short cut, try this site:

http://shaul.tryam.com/cyr/

You can simply open this page, type right in the window, and then cut and paste where/ when is needed. Let me know if this works for you. At the moment, that's the best method I have at my disposal.

Oh my god, what a great link. Thank you! I was going to type this in Russian, but now I need a cover for my keyboard with Russian letters. I never learned the Russian keyboard properly, and just typed away randomly for about a minute before generatin a "spasibo" in cyrillic. How do you do it?

nonono, you missunderstood.
that's the beauty of this site.
you do not need a cover with Russian letters.
Just start typing in Russian with English letters, and it replaces them for you on the spot. Not all letters in cyrillic are the same as the english ones, obviously, but those you don't know, look at the bottom where all the characters are shown, and see which button on the American keyboard stands for which cyrillic symbol.

Hm, I just tried that and it's not corresponding at all. I will try it from my home computer (I am in a computer lab right now). Did you have to tweak any settings on it to work, or anything?

Thanks, though, even if I can't just type it in English I can just make little Russian letters for my computer and use the site thusly.

Although I hope I can get it to work like it does for you.
