Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] fengi. Ten sentences, each one is about someone on my friends list. Comment with your guesses.

1. Happy Birthday! I thought it was on the 4th until I remembered that it was on the 2nd and it was too late to call.

2. My tolerance for poetry decreased drastically after college, but you made the cut.

3. But it could get so gloriously poofy if you just let me!

4. You have my favorite journal title out of everyone on my friends list. Of course, I am professionally biased.

5. Confessionals=currency of the id. You dish them as well as you take them.

6. The converse in Latin would be a lot more macabre.

7. Who needs Carrie Bradshaw?

8. Impossibly, she is even more beautiful than she is photogenic.

9. The Count of Monte Cristo is an excellent remedy for the false azure of the windowpane.

10. If you've got your grandpa's skills, I will be requesting you as my chaperone into the Lost World.

I like being cited in other people's journal. I like being cited cryptically even more.

Even more than that, I like people like you, who spare me from commenting, "Granpa, Lost World . . . who else but me?"

#9 is me, and you are nagging.

Totally didn't mean it as a nagging thing, more, like, it's the most pure tale of revenge ever written and I thought it may be cathartic.

Fair enough. And I don't know why I didn't figure out #2 was Claudelemonde. Duh. How were the rest of my guesses?

you got some right.

Oh my god, I love that icon! I have no idea what it is of, but weirdly, the background behind the...uh...green thing looks like an Oberlin dorm room. You know, when you would first walk through the door and there would be the closet, right there? What the hell is that?

9 may not be about me, but it's good advice for anyone who just read too much Nabokov. I just reread Ivanhoe, so the Count is a good next step.

ButIvanhoe is so pure! And Count is twisted in that "human nature" way. See, Scottish authors were all about narrating their heroic history of opposition, while the French could really get into what is lurking in the hearts of men.

I sense a francophile in the room...

...I read Ivanhoe because it was pure. The heroes are all heroes and the villains can be slightly less bad but in the end are all pretty awful. ... I was pretty sick of it by the end, so the count is a perfect next step.

I lay claim to #7. Thank you. Now about coffee... sorry I never got back to you Sunday, there was this beautiful man and then I got busy...

Would you be available for Saturday brunch?

Date: 2004-06-03 10:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lapsedmodernist.livejournal.com
Correct!
I don't know about Saturday brunch, my schedule lately has been more condusive to midnight breakfasts, but how about coffee in later afternoon?
That's fine, I understand about the beautiful man, such things demand attention. Sorry I was retarded earlier and forgot that my friend was leaving for Mother Russia!

I want to guess mine but I think I will blush. Unless I am completely wrong.

The only reason I would say #8 is because of a recent comment you made. And if I am wrong I am crawling into a hole, if I am right then that is too cool and you are too kind. Your on my list...now you have to guess which one! If you guess...well, wow.

You are absolutely #8.

[livejournal.com profile] nevertheless guessed you for #8, but she used both your current and your old journal name, so I screened her comment just in case you didn't want your cover blown.

#8 may well apply to you, but we've never met in real life!

i was pretty sure that most, if not all of these were about me. then i realized that most, if not all of them don't really apply.

alas. back to my world of ignominiousness...

From: [identity profile] lapsedmodernist.livejournal.com
you are not ignonimous! (wait, is that the right way to spell that?)
