Has anyone else noticed that the Manhattan Mini-Storage ads on the subway are weirdly progressive? First there was the one with the yuppie man needing storage for his boyfriend's stuff. Now there is a picture of a toy soldier with a caption saying "My owner's ma stowed me here until there's not so much real shooting."

I noticed the gay doctor one too. In fact, once I was with someone who thought that the doctor was the boyfriend (some girl's bf), just because she wasn't used to seing ads with implying gay relationships. I remember Manhattan Mini-Storage ones from years ago (big billboards near the parking lot between Houston, Ludlow, and Stanton) that listed the contents of the mini storage unit and it mentioned something about storing your porn when your mother comes to visit/girlrfiend comes over or something???? Not exactly THAT progressive, but not too many people are willing to talk about pornography that openly.

Yeah, I've been noticing that too. I think it's for a couple reasons: 1)to save money, Manhattan mini-storage lets students in the ad courses at SVA come up with all their campaigns and 2)they realize that New Yorkers are progresssive, so why not cash in on that?

BTW, I don't know if either of the previous statements are true.
