Fucking narcissist.

Nader, after contemplating his navel, decides to run again

Well, all of you who were so fucking eager to prove your point in 2000 in borderline states, here's your chance to usher in another 4 years of Bush. Except, maybe, not, because hopefully people had the idiocy beat out of them over the last four years, and if there is any hope for America maybe he'll get, like, 7 votes. I dunno, do the crazies in ALF vote? So, um, it's a free country. Vote for Nader! Because obviously Republicans and Democrats are the same. Unless you are, you know, a soldier, or a woman in need of an abortion, or a passenger flying American, terrorized by some crazy pilot who is a little too into his Left Behind series, and God is, like, his co-pilot, y'know. or a citizen of Syria or Iran or whatever country is next on the PNAC list. Or maybe Republicans and Democrats are pretty fucking similar. But in that case BushCo aren't republicans. There are apocalyptically scary fundies, not concerned with signature Republican characteristics like a small federal gov't, non-interference in state issues, balancing the budget, etc. They are a fucking crazy military junta, who need to be stopped, but nooo, Nader is like Cartman. Whatevah, I do what I want. Well, you know who else is like Cartman? Dubya.

Rejoice, Nader supporters! Vote to make your point! Split the vote! What was that thing about the idiots inheriting the Earth?

I'm surprised you'd vent at Y2K Nader supporters when you're well aware of the criminal conspiracy to scrub as many as 90,000 legit Democrats from the voter rolls in Florida. I mean, really. I agree with you that Ralph is apparently a shmuck with an out-of-control ego who should not be running this year, but lay the blame at the feet of the people that deserve it.

The two blame-layings aren't mutually exclusive. But the fact that there was a conspiracy to keep democrats from voting, through removal from rolls and physical roadblocks, doesn't make Nader acolytes stubbornly voting for him in borderline states, esp. when there was a vote-swapping program set up, any better or brighter.

My recommendation this time around is the same as before: if you're in a state that's definitely going for the Republicans, like my Virginia, go ahead and "vote your conscience," like I did. Help a third party get some legitimacy.

I'm voting in California this year, so I won't be afforded the luxury of certainty. There's enough Greens in the Bay to screw things up, and I hope they have the sense to just keep Bush out. (Then again it still strikes me as mediocre to vote for the lesser of two evils, not to mention that Kerry is a moderate who's against gay marriage. Don't worry, I'm not falling for the gay marriage division tactic, but still . . .)

Unfortunately, no one really can be certain until the big day. Watch it! We can't have more shrubbery adorning the White House.

it's not a done deal yet. he has yet to get on the ballot. that's why, at least in part, he had to go through an exploratory period. apparently, he now thinks that there are enough people who will organize and get the signatures it takes to get on the ballot.

personally, i reserve my anger about 2000 for the five people on the court who made an unconstitutional and political decision, (and in particular for scalia because of his decision to order a halt to the counting). that decision, combined with gore's allowing himself to be painted into a corner by the media, led to the election being aborted. the aborting of the election should have made the entire country angry, but the repubs don't really believe in democracy -- they only want their votes to be counted (for more evidence, see their opposition to wash. d.c. getting voting representation and to audit trails for electronic voting).

Maybe I'm naive, but I can't imagine a Nader candidacy in '04 being nearly as successful as it was in '00. I don't think the people who voted Nader in 2000 had any idea what would happen under a Bush presidency, and having now witnessed it, I can't imagine they would risk its continuation. But yeah, I can't believe his audacity.

I can only hope you are right. But there is enough people who would be all "fuck politics. American system is stupid. I'm gonna vote for Nader." I talked to my friend yesterday; she lives in Colorado. She works for Free Speech TV so she has a good, consistent grasp of what's going on on the left. I told her the Nader news, and she said "fuck, all of Boulder is going to vote for him." I'm afraid there is more than one Boulder. Oh, if only there was a Buchanan or Perot, since that asshole insists on running...just to balance things out.
