Well, at least not all Democrats are squabbling among themsevles like rabid cats. I am so depressed/infuriated at the Democrats and at the media coverage making it sound like Dean is losing his advantage because of launching negative ads. Edwards and Kucinich are the only ones that ran a "clean" campaign, and everyone's ads have been directed against Dean. And then you have CBS, everyone's favorite network that cut the MoveOn ad, but is airing a White House sponsored ad during the Superbowl (CBS on Thursday rejected a request from MoveOn to air the 30-second spot, saying "Child's Pay" violated the network's policy against accepting advocacy advertising, a company spokesperson told reporters. At the same time, CBS is allowing ads placed on the docket by the White House's anti-drug office. For the third year in a row the White House has paid between $1.5 and $3 million each for 30-second spots during the broadcast. The 2004 ads, produced for the White House by Ogilvy & Mather are expected to convey a message similar to their previous Super Bowl spots. While CBS would not reveal the content of the upcoming ads, previous White House Super Bowl spots drew a controverial link between casual drug use and the financing of global terrorists.), just called Dean's supporters storm troopers.

Well, they're supposed to squabble like this. The real test will be whether they rally 'round once the primaries have picked a winner. It's not a given; one of the reasons McGovern did so badly in 68 was that the party heads, in particular the labor leaders, refused to turn the party machine over to the McGovernicks.

And...storm troopers? Like the ones the Republicans flew in to halt the Florida recount with threats of physical violence? The thing about Republicans is that their every criticism of others is an act of pure projection. It's why I think they're actively evil and not merely acting out the part of the contented - they know what they're doing is horrible, and they're not afraid to call the kettle black.

this election isn't like the other elections. they can't just split ranks before the primaries the way they usually do. i just hope this does not do so much damage that they can't do some sort of damage control after the primaries.

and yes, those same storm troopers. pot, kettle, black. exactly.

is this cheney's way of telling us he thinks he's yoda?

um, did you see cheney at the SOU yesterday? i couldn't watch Bush b/c Cheney kept leaning into the screen, staring at Bush ventriloquist-style. Cheney is more scary puppet-master than yoda.

i actually can't watch those speeches. aside from his incredible lack of oratory skills, i can't stomach to see him or the rest of that group of evildoers continuously lie and get standing ovations for the way they're doing the majority of americans. without lube even.

to your point, i think most sane people understand cheney to be the evil puppet-master. but cheney seems to be the one who believes he's the wise, old master who knows what's best and has the power of mind control to make it happen. that, and even when he's supposed to die he's able to keep coming back, "stronger then you could ever imagine."

The media coverage has been really bad. Worse than usual, I think. At this point it really looks like the media's attempt to inject drama into a relatively undramatic process is going to end up arbitrarily typecasting the candidates and turning the outcome of the primaries into some tasty TV-dinner politics, the only response to which will be belching on the couch and waiting for the inevitable Return of the Bush. Sadness.

"As one who does not support Dean, I would like to say this to you: DON'T GIVE UP. You have done an incredible thing. You inspired an entire nation to stand up to George W. Bush. Your impact on this election will be felt for years to come. Every bit of energy you put into Dr. Dean's candidacy was -- and is -- worth it. He took on Bush when others wouldn't. He put corporate America on notice that he is coming after them. And he called the Democrats out for what they truly are: a bunch of spineless, wishy-washy appeasers who have sold out the working people of America. Everyone in every campaign owes you and your candidate a huge debt of thanks."
