1) Even though miraculously, and out of his Unholy love for J. Mu the Slumlord actually procured a new refrigerator for us, in classic Slumlord m.o. he did not measure the fridge before his shady crew of Rasta hepcats arrived, circa midnight, to install it. There was much wailing and gnashing of the teeth, and in the end, the Slumlord had to disassemble the metal gate covering the kitchen door (different from the oft-referenced metal gate downstairs). So then in addition to the wailing and the gnashing at the witching hour, there was also the drilling. Also, the number of free-standing doors that lead nowhere in our hallway has increased by 100%. If we discover that one of them leads to Narnia, you, [livejournal.com profile] klingrap can move in there and commute or something, since you are so masochistically eager to experience proximity to the Slumlord.

2) I have to report that last night, in a very (as in more so than usual) special 7th Heaven, we got our first reference to/acknowledgement of homosexuality in Glenoak, California. The context? Child molestation/incest. And, as [livejournal.com profile] nuncstans pointed out, it's all blamed on the mother anyway. Go Brenda Hampton.

sheesh...

it's on the WB; I don't know what its affiliate is in Canada. It's AMAZING. I really can't do it justice. It is completely insane...it goes beyond Christian "camp" because it is never possible to tell whether it's always bona fide right-wing propaganda, or whether it's written by people fired from The Simpsons for being too cynical, who have had to get a job with 7th Heaven. I really like watching it and pretending it's a Pinter play. It actually works really well. It's, like, supposedly about family values, so obviously it's reactionary, but also every character is loathsome, rude, and a stalker. And everyone gets married after, like, 2 weeks of dating. Matt, the oldest son in the family, got married on the 1st date. Presumably so he could have sex. And the youngest daughter is totally biracial, despite the fact that her parents are both white as the driven snow; I kept waiting for the "very special" adoption episode, but no. It's just "7th Heaven Logic." Oh, and whenever someone smokes pot, they, like, die. And Ed Begles Jr. guest stars frequently. Just watch it.

last year, three friends of mine who were chronically late in paying their rent, finally got the shit shocked out of them when the landlord showed up in the middle of the afternoon one day, and took the front door off the hinges, tossed it in the back of his pick up, and drove off...just like that. At the time, one of the kids was home...this scrawny little irish kid...the landlord is a big burly Greek bastard and had a hammer, a screwdriver, and a very menacing disposition apparantly. The kids didn't have a phone line, so said friend just stood idly by and let the man get on with his illegal mischief instead of calling the cops.

Oh heavens, and I missed the show!
Did you tape it, once you realized there was a homosexual plot line?
Damn damn damn.

As far as the doors go, you should dump them in the backyard garden and, should the hippies complain, say '[Slumlord] told us to put them here', and let them take it up with him.

um, it was not clear there was a homosexual or any other plotline pretty much until the last 5 minutes. it made no sense, more so than your average 7th Heaven episode. [livejournal.com profile] nuncstans will back me up on that.
