Whoops; didn't finish the message-- but yeah, I can have dinner with you, but I am absolutely going home and changing first. I'm at a shirt-and-tie job today, and as I hadn't been expecting a more formal thing, I had to borrow Cameron's clothes, which are a few sizes two short/small for me, so there's no way in hell I'm going to dinner in them. Happy September 11th!
Bill and I went up to his roof, lit a candle, and spent a few minutes in silence watching the city go by below us. Then we sat down and looked up into the blue blue sky and talked about it for a while. Less would have been disrespectful - more may have been too much.
that's fine; my statement was assymmetrical/one-way.
it's like those permutations/combinations/logic syllogisms
people who weren't in NYC who aren't over it=fine people who were in NYC and are "over it"=fine people who weren't in NYC and are being loud and obnoxious about being "over it"=not fine
It's Japhy, who you never see, but stalks your LJ anyways.
I was going to say that we as new Yorker's need to respect that people who did not experience the event firsthand and realize that they view it through an entirely different context (a TV show vs. Reality). Then I saw that assholes's post and all the idiotic comments attatched. Fuck them. You know what I hate most of all? The attitude that 'Everybody experienced 9/11" no matter where they were and that NYC is a gentler "more human" city now.
Truth be told, most people move here because they couldn't stand the asswipes back where they came from and really, they need to shut the fuck up. I mean, what kind of callous world is this? "Yo, Grandma- get over the fact your entire family was gassed.", "Hey, Japan- boo-hoo, we bombed you and scarred your culture for fourty years because of it!", "Iraq, so sorry we took out all your basic needs for living. It's your responsibility to fix it!"
All in favor of New York ceceding from the U.S. say, "aye".
yep, it would be "united states of new york" like giuliani said on 9/11 and bill clinton would be our mayor/president and we will be able to smoke in bars again.
There's a "get over 9-11" rhetoric? I thought there was just the snide hyperreality-Bush's-fault stuff that I've been hearing from all the cool white kids for the past couple of years.
