Right now reading Year of the Flood. So far liking it a lot better than Oryx and Crake, which I didn't like all that much, but was sort of compelled by.

Excited/interested to read the new Jennifer Egan book. Even though I really did not like her last one, I loved the first two (esp. the second one)

A new Gary Shteyngart novel coming out in just a couple of weeks! Hooray!

Probably less profound, but last book in the Hunger Games series coming out next month! Also hooray!

love the hunger games series... are you on team peetah or team gale?!

I'm eager to read year of the flood but feel I should read oryx and crake first. so many books to read!

did you ever get to see the remaining eps of friday night lights? I feel so proud that I recommended that show to you because I KNEW you would love it.

man, I tore through the year of the flood. I read Oryx and crake afterwards -order didn't really matter plotwise, but I wish I had read O&C first just because the characters aren't as compelling so at least I would have been sustained by the basic sci-fi "what is going on?" reveal. can't wait for the final one to come out.

haha, that's a hard question...but I guess team Gale. What about you??

I am about halfway through Year of the Flood and I guess I would advocate reading them in sequence...Oryx and Crake is actually a pretty fast read, there is something very pulp novel-y about it.

re: FNL--not yet, but I hope to stream it next week in the States. I am totally loving it, thank you!

I didn't even know there was going to be a third one! Do you know what the angle/perspective of that one is supposed to be?

oh! hmm.. I don't think so. It was a library copy. The only thing I really remember is it seemed to start right after YOTF ended. Basically (I hope this is not a spoiler) the first two books take place in roughly the same period(s) of time, and I think the next one will tell us what happens next. I couldn't find much after a quick google other than a February 2010 statement that she is "currently working on the third novel of her Maddaddam trilogy, which includes the novels Oryx and Crake and her most recent work, The Year of the Flood."

oh, here's another one - ""The Year of the Flood" is the second volume in a planned trilogy, though Atwood wouldn't commit to details of the third novel. She did say that the MaddAddam group, a bioresistance corps, is a group whose story has not yet been told. She said, "What is their story? How did they get into it?"" So obviously there will be more flashing back..

Just read YOTF and haven't read O&C yet, because I didn't know they went together, oops. My friend commented that the ending of YOTF wasn't that satisfying - I guess because it wasn't an end... and if my copy had pages from the next one inside, I missed it.

Dora, I felt the need to revisit this post and your comment from 10 years ago to tell you that I am now on Team Peeta. That is all!
