also god help me I just bought Fionn a toy "learning with Elmo" or some shit like that cell phone. This totally goes against all of my crypto-waldorfian toy philosophies, but the baby loves to push buttons that make sounds, and he steals my cell phone at every opportunity, and this week he put it in the kiddie pool. with water. maybe faux cell phone will help. redheadedmuse is right, babies love cell phones.

Have you ever experimented with Fuji Velvia or any of its derivatives/replacements? Something in that line might be truly wonderful for your abandoned places photos.

I've used Velvia for cross-processing back when I shot a lot of film.

How did it come out?

I'm curious because I'm going to start dabbling in Super 8 and I was quite attracted to the look of some test footage shot on Velvia -- the color was great and it rendered misty early-morning light haze perfectly.

he might be a little young, but if you can find one of those cheap electric bubble blowers that he can hold, i think you will both be quite pleased. $1 dollar for a big bottle of bubble liquid and about $1 for the toy.

he might not be able to handle it on his own until about age two, but he'll still like to watch.

and when he gets older still -- magnets.

maybe...I bet he'd enjoy the bubble machine, but I don't know what the bubbles in that bottle are made of...I've been using fancy organic bubbles from Whole Foods with him.
