By the way I am a total idiot, and I did an equivalent of leaving the house without checking the weather, except I did it FOR MY FIELDWORK. I exaggerate, since the tropics will, indeed, be warm, but Quito is freaking cold. I was led astray by my (incorrect) idea that everything on the other side of the Equator is automatically is flip-flopped (like Kerry! HAHA! I am so funny!) but apparently it's not, like, winter is summer and vice versa, apparently it depends on the Tropics, like Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, you know, the ones that Henry Miller set his narcissistic narratives in. So apparently I am in the Tropic of IT'S REALLY FUCKING COLD NOW. I went to sleep with a hot water bottle last night, but somehow managed to accidentally unscrew it with my freaky toes while asleep, and woke up to a warm, soon-to-be cold wet spot forming in my bed, and nothing exciting to show for it.

mauliva yesterday and I look forward to hanging out with her more. Today it's a beautiful day. I've reconsiled myself to the fact that I cannot tell what time it is, ever, since all clocks in my vicinity show different times and my ghetto $10 watch bravely lasted until my first night in Quito, and then departecd for the Big Watch Warehouse in the Sky.
