Sep. 8th, 2002 06:22 pmthere is an amazing crafts and jewelry fair going on on washington place, but i can't buy anything (including amazing glass and stained-glass stuff that i love) because i am so broke until i get my stipend that it's all about ramen for the next week. sigh.
i am reading "revenge" by laura blumenfeld, a reporter whose father, a rabbi was an object of an attempted assasination by a palestinian radical group member in israel, and she goes back there to figure out what revenge is, historically at large, and situated in that corner of the world. There is a sentence that seems very cassandra in retrospect:
"But then a friend from the Post newsroom in Washington called. He said: "if America bombs Iraq, there'll be twenty years of revenge. Terrorists will sneak into america plugged with tubes of anthrax. Our children in 2012 will be paying the price."
sigh...
